Academy Committee Structure

The Academy Committee of Kings Road Primary School are committed, enthusiastic volunteers, from a variety of walks of life, who are keen to help, support, strengthen and promote the school in the local community who are elected or appointed for a term of office of four years.

Academy Committee Members are friends of the school, and they enjoy supporting and attending school, social and fund-raising events. They offer support and challenge, working with the Head of School and the staff to support the Board of Trustees in setting the strategic direction of the school and, importantly, to ensure that the standards of teaching and learning continue to improve.

Academy Committee Members take particular interest in important areas of school life, and they champion the causes of their Individual Responsibilities by visiting the school regularly for monitoring purposes and by liaising with the relevant lead staff member. Visit reports are recorded and Academy members give verbal feed-back at the termly Committee meetings.

Academy Committee Members take part in training sessions to keep up to date with current legislation, ‘hot topics’, procedures and policies in the world of education. Sometimes, they train with staff or as a Committee in school, but they also have opportunities to attend conferences and meetings at other venues, as organised by the Local Authority.

Academy Committee Member's life is a busy one at Kings Road, with visits, meetings, background research and paperwork to digest prior to meetings, but it is so enjoyable, worthwhile and rewarding, as we endeavour to play a meaningful part in the lives of our pupils, by always ‘Putting the Children First’ and supporting the school team’s belief that every child has the opportunity to become ‘Learners for Life’.
